The official language of china is Chinese(Simplified Mandarin Chinese).
Mandarin Chinese, the only official language, is used all across China, but there are also a lot of other dialects of Chinese, like Cantonese used in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Wu dialect used in Shanghai and Jiangsu. All of the dialects share the same writing system of Chinese, but sometimes it is hard to communicate with each other between different dialects. Besides the above, there are also some languages, like Mongolia, Tibetan language, etc. used among minorities. However, if you come to China, speak Mandarin Chinese is enough and convenient to communicate with all Chinese.
